Parents Must Win this Battle
There comes a time in every child’s life when they will declare war on their parents’ way of doing things. You might think I’m talking about the teenage years.
No.
I’m talking about a time between 18 and 36 months. Maybe earlier, depending on the child. Children begin to assert themselves early, and they will test boundaries early. But there will always be a time when they will attempt outright rebellion.
They disobey a clear “no” that you know they understand.
They throw a fit because they didn’t get their way.
They delay obedience so they can play longer.
They will come prepared to assert their own will…and you must win this battle. If you don’t, they will keep pushing and testing and fighting and it will never stop. You will be a slave to your child’s whims and desires.
You don’t have to be mean about it, but you must stand firm and hold your ground. If you succeed, the next 15 years will be so much easier.
And much more enjoyable for both of you.
