Having a way for your children to earn money is a good way to start teaching them how to handle money. But you need to be careful. You don’t want to raise pure mercenaries.
You don’t want them holding out their hand for a tip after brushing their teeth. You also don’t want them fishing for compliments and rewards just because they put their plate in the dishwasher. Some behavior should be expected. Children should not be trained to beg for treats like a dog.
To help prevent this, making certain distinctions can be helpful.
