10 Warning Signs To Teach Your Daughter When She's Looking For a Husband

A young man staring blankly at the TV while lying on the couch

For women, the purpose of dating should be finding a man suitable for marriage. Dating and courtship should be fun, and she doesn’t have to start grilling the boy with hard questions fifteen minutes into the first date. But she should start digging sooner than most people assume.

Like the previous post on searching for a wife, these warning signs should not be absolute rules. They are meant to save time and help with vetting. If a boy exhibits evidence of some of these, it doesn’t mean an automatic “no.” It means you should pay closer attention and caution your daughter to avoid getting swept up in the romance of it all.

It’s also okay for a father to ask questions that reveal a boy’s character. It doesn’t mean you have to be mean or blustering. Be polite but direct.

Keep in mind that young men are mostly potential, so pay attention to their direction rather than their current position in life. Your daughter wants to catch someone on the way up, not someone who has peaked at 19.

These warning signs are big hints that the boy is stagnant or going in the opposite direction of maturity.
